The DuPage County Hardcore project began in 2013 as a way to preserve and make freely available the wealth of underground punk/hardcore, metal and related music created in suburban Chicago during the '80s, '90s & '00s.

In 2018, the scope was widened to include all Chicago-area bands that meet the loose criteria of the project: out-of-print, DIY material from punk, metal and any related projects dating from the same time frame (pre-widespread Internet).
